The Monster Under My Bed

When I was little, I swore up and down there was a monster under my bed,but no one would believe me. I would hear noises and call my mom’s name almost every night. I got brave one night and yelled, “Hello is anyone there!” No one responded. I kept hearing things up until I was twelve. I turned 16 one day and I had such a good birthday. I was tired and ready to fall right asleep when I got in my bed. It had been a long week and I had gone through a terrible break up. I was worrying about all the wrong things and I was under tons of stress so I got comfortable under my covers and was slowly falling asleep. My tears were slowly going away, when I heard a loud noise coming from under my bed. I knew there was no such things as monsters, but in the back of my mind I was still creeped out. I sat up in bed, frightened. I watched the floor to see if anything would come out from under my bed and after sitting there rocking back and forth for 5 minutes a piece of paper slid out from under the bed. I reached down for it quickly and turned my lamp on that was beside my bed. The note read, “There’s no need for you to worry about the little things in life. People come and go in your life. People change, as well as yourself. You turned 16 today and you have a bunch of things to look forward to. Remember, everything happens for a reason.” I laid the note in my lap and sat there in confusion. My tears had disappeared. I slowly got out of bed and turned my light on and looked under my bed. Nothing was there. The next morning, I woke up and put a smile on my face. There were no more tears and no more frustrations. The note I received the night before changed my whole attitude towards life. The end of the note where it had written, “Everything happens for a reason” had really got planted in the back of my mind and I’ve been living off that quote ever since. Turns out some monsters aren’t that bad after all.
